It’s been a little over five years of trying different website hosts, apps, add-ons, systems and everything in between—and let me tell you, running the website side of a bakery can sometimes feel like a whole second job on top of actually making the cookies!
There is so much to learn, test, set up and occasionally wonder, “Why on earth isn’t this working?”
A Little Website Journey
Sugar Shack Bake Shoppe started out on Shopify, where we stayed for several years. Last year, I decided to give Square a try, and while there were definitely things I loved about it (their custom invoicing is still a favourite of mine!), I found myself missing many of the customization options available through Shopify.
Things like being able to send emails directly to you from the website, offer a rewards program, create a more customized shopping experience, and generally make the site feel a little more like Sugar Shack.
Shopify has also made some improvements over the past year that make the platform work better for both my business needs and your experience as a customer—so, here we are again!

With all of that said, I am definitely not a professional website designer.
Sugar Shack Bake Shoppe is very much a business of one. The person baking your cookies, answering your messages, creating your invoices, updating the website, taking photos, posting on social media and trying to figure out why a button suddenly stopped working is...me. Hi! 👋
That can make testing a brand-new website a little tricky.
So, if you happen to find something that isn't working quite right—a broken link, a typo, something confusing, or anything else that seems a little wonky—please feel free to kindly let me know. I genuinely appreciate it, and I'll do my best to get it corrected.
And Hopefully, More From Me...
One of the things I'd really like to do with this new website is bring a little more personality to the Sugar Shack brand.
I’m hoping to write more blog posts about what I’m baking, new recipes or products I’m experimenting with, things I’ve learned along the way, some behind-the-scenes bakery life, and probably a few baking adventures that don't go quite according to plan.
Because behind all of those perfectly decorated cookies is, in fact, a real person—not a robot cookie-making machine. 😂
Hopefully this little corner of the website gives you a chance to get to know the person behind Sugar Shack Bake Shoppe a bit better, too.
